Astro's coffee shop cusps this urban
Corner,
Like a hood-ornament atop steel.
In booths for ladies, Juanito
Serves Susanna, Vilma and me,
Ice water crowned with citrus suns.
LA's cerulean sky's a tablecloth;
Four corners stretched taut.
After BLTs, shakes, pancakes,
We hustle out double-doors to
Parking lot,
Scan heavens for signs of visitation.
Southeast rumblings bring
Endeavor with its archangel 747
Just above our heads.
Vilma, Susanna, Juan and me,
Twist chins toward Helios,
Catch titanium beatitude.
