Freeway Heart Diary 2014

1. January bougainvillea drapes
    Over freeway wall,
    Foliage shapes like sacred heart
    Cantilevered with thorns

2. Saint Valentine's vine
   Adorns Gower tracks,
   Anoints bright air
   With crimson bracts

3. Drought's heart--aquifer of spirit--
    Infuses commuters with sustenance:
    Droplets of hot color
    On tongues, on eyes

4. Fool's Day Heart busts abutment,
    Circulates cerise,
    Ventricles spill beauty into carpool,
    This ticker's no joke

5. Spring's middleman pumps
    Inversion through twiggy valve,
    Rush-hour particulate
    Fills lanes and veins

6. June gloom enwraps bloom,
    Dims magenta flare
    Crestin' gray junction
 --atria poke pale airs--

7. Cardiac burst--strontium boom--
    Dazzle under daytime moon
    Puce facets windshields,
     Eliminates blind-spots

8. A plastic bag summers
    In scarlet auricle,
    Tote of purchase-past motes brambles,
    Palpitates for big-rigs!

9. Heart-lobes mime thunderheads,
    Pinion chain-link strait
    Thorns suspend rubescent curves
    Above paved artery

10. Full heart of high color
      Piqued by rain,
Levitates 'bove steel-rides in slow lane,
      Wet road reflects brake-light borealis

11. Great heart of many hearts,
Red bracts fade, shift pink, crinkle tan,
     Cast blessings upon
     All graded ascents

12. In desert solstice,
      Brumal heart radiates
      Unveiling sunlight. Yield,
      We tread hallowed ground!
