Winnebago
We sat in the back
Of the Winnebago
Reading about Bobby Kennedy,
Just a year gone
Bulbous Oat Mountain
Transitioned to Cajon Pass
Our RV was blazoned
With a giant ochre W
And gold stripes running north/south
W for wanderlust,
Wilderness,
Watchfulness
At camp site, Janet's Mom
Set cereal bowls on the picnic
Table. Later, the Dad
Played accordion
'Neath Jeffrey pines
She stretches out on
The back bench seat
Of her Winnebago
Tonight she's parked
Under an LA overpass,
Plants dangle down
From concrete like jungle vines
The coach windows
Are hazy with abrasion
"Fogged" even on
Hot December days
She shares sandwiches
With a couple braked
Alongside the curb,
Her RV's tagged
With a giant ochre W
And oxidized gold stripes
Running east/west
W for wakefulness,
Weariness,
Witness
