Dove You

Mourning dove

         Look, look, looks

Walks in zigzags,

         Pads ground with

Burgundy hewn feet,

         His plumage not

Cumulus clad. Peace dove

         Of sifted earth, drab,

Taps lowly way on concrete,

         Sleek head leads,

Bounces, compels, nods,

         Punctuates essential

Path. I hear early call,

         He's taken all O's

From look, look, looks,

         And gentled them

To me

  1. Oh that is a lovely poem. I love the way it meanders in just the way mourning doves and mourning meanders.
